Introduction to Probability & Statistics

Please keep in mind that this review is more than 5 years old.

Prof. Yao is seriously one of the best professors I have had thus far. He makes sure to clarify any part of the material that may seem confusing or difficult. The material isn't very extremely hard but not easy either. There is A LOT to know, therefore, he lets you write ANYTHING you want on both sides of a regular sheet of paper and use it on the midterm and final! Although this helps A LOT, it is essential that you understand the concepts otherwise this won't help you. Make sure to go to the weekly recitation session since the TA goes over several of the homework problems and actually gives you those answers. The sample midterm and final are very similar to the actual exams. DEFINITELY recommended.

Workload:

long weekly problem sets(20%), 2-day midterm (40%), noncumulative final (40%)
