He is one of the worst professors I have ever had - very nice guy, but seems absolutely stupid. He doesn't know the material and has even been known to say "counting is not one of my strengths." He frequently makes mistakes on example problems - even if he just copied the text book verbatim, it would be a better class.
He does not structure exams or homeworks well at all and there seems to be a dichotomy between class work and material for tests/homework. Avoid him if possible

Weekly problem set that can take between 2-5 hours, a frustrating experience. 2 midterms and final

Taken is spring 2002: DONT TAKE IT WITH HIM!! the course is bad enough plus his teachings dont really help much. he is a nice quiet grad student but his midterms are HELL!! even a TA told me to take the next session with another prof. has a relatively difficult grading system although he follows the curve. only a few select students like 4/5 max did well in class of 50. lectures are helpful if u can live thru them but also quite dry and boring. most ppl didnt get the theory (partly due to him and mostly due to the course) but no one really bothered mention it out. english is although clear, its not very fluent as it could have been.

Workload:

2 hell midterms, final said he ll try make it somewhat "fair". weekly homeworks which are mandatory. so do them. but the prob is that his assigned homeworks from book doesnt match upto the tough midterms he makes. !!
