course
American Literature: 1871-1945

Apr 2021

I loved this class so much. I am not an English major or concentration and I felt like I got so much out of this class. I wouldn't say it is easy necessarily, but definitely manageable. The class really focuses on reading literature from this era in the context of what was happening in America at the time. It's almost a cross between a history class and a literature class. The actual class is mostly discussion-based, with small break-out rooms (at least in the virtual format) about once a week. Professor Carter is awesome. She's pretty chill and is great at keeping the conversation interesting. She sometimes goes on tangents about something someone brought up in class but if you pay attention to them they're actually super helpful when working on the assignments. She really just wants you to think and contribute something new to the conversation.
