My favorite class in the cs core! Let me preface this by saying I did not do very well in this class but really enjoyed it and thought Xi was a fantastic professor. He broke down difficult class examples into smaller steps that made sense. The homework was very manageable and taught me a lot. Xi was so good that I'm trying to take another class with him.

A fantastic professor with amazing knowledge of the subject. He's a serious and gruff man, but he is willing to answer any questions and conveys the material so well in his lectures. His explanations are thorough and he goes through topics well enough so that students can have a good grasp on what is going on. If there is an option to take a class with him, I highly recommend taking it.

An easy but bulky course. Helps if you're familiar with data analysis using R. Do the assignments in groups to learn more. Prof Modi is very approachable during office hours/after lectures.

This is a very good course to learn about different material properties and their derivation process of the constitutive models. Professor Staroselsky is a very patient and intelligent professor. If you are not aware of any concept, do not hesitate to ask him directly. He will tell you very clearly. After finishing this course, I think I have elementary ideas for most of the materials. BTW, it will help you understand deeper about UMAT in Abaqus. Basically, you will understand how to write a specific material by yourself in FORTRAN and run it in Abaqus which is very helpful in our research on the material.
