Mijo is an impressive and stylish guy, but not an ideal teacher for this course. People were frequently lost. The lectures were exhausting, and he would speed through derivations in a way that is very unhelpful, and then awkwardly meander on a discussion topic. The "engineering" angle on the course was also very suspect - it may have taken a more theoretical tone than it should have. Doing the textbook reading before the lecture always helps, but it was especially helpful for this class because of his lecturing style. It wasn't until I started the second course of this sequence, thermo II with Allie Obermeyer, that I realized a thermodynamics course could be taught in a much better structured and student-friendly manner.
