I like Erika and most people do, but I had some issues with how the class was structured. First, to be honest, I didn't end up learning anything after the class ended since the ideas presented were really basic eg. gentrification causes poor Black people to go to worse schools, it's beneficial to students to be accepting of their identities, curriculums are too white, etc. I don't think the prof did present any of the ideas in a critical manner or push us to that point there, it was all up to us. Second, my biggest gripe is that the class was SO unorganized. Deadlines were changed last minute, we didn't really know what we were supposed to write about in our responses, we didn't know what to submit when, and we didn't know what was contributing to our grade. She is an advocate of a hands-off education style so maybe that has something to do with it but I don't know it wasn't for me as I was left frustrated constantly. In the end, the class was frustrating and not really challenging, but she was very accommodating and encouraged our creativity in the work we submitted.
