Shirin is a great teacher, feel blessed if you get her. She is relatively easy and a VERY fair grader. At first she can come off as slightly hesitant in her teaching style, but once you warm up to her, you will discover that she is a gem. If you're having any problems in the course and you go to her office hours, she is happy to offer a helping hand, and to walk you through your problem.
After all of the horror stories I have heard about other teachers, Shirin is definitely one of the better teachers in the English department.
A warning though, the class can sometimes drag and discussion can be heavy and boring at times. But if you can get through those moments and manage to stay awake and pop in a comment every now and then, you're set.
