Prof. Oren is a scholarly type who speaks in a matter-of-
fact tone and means everything he says. He lectures for vast periods of time with perfect organization and without notes - he knows his subject in and out. Prof. Oren seems opinionated, but not morally. He's not much of a revisionist, though he's glad to point out errors and alternatives.
What his class is really about is giving students the basis to think about the war in a political light. Discussions of soldiers always go back to politicians. Discussions, for that matter, always cut through the surface and get to the marrow of what happened and why.
