Andrew Kosoresow

Jun 2003

Andrew Kosoresow passed away of a sudden heart attack on June 1, 2003. One of the CULPA team was very close to him, and majored in computer science because of him. He was a tireless guide and companion to computer science students; as one CULPA review said, "he seems to have more office hours than there are in a day." Former students no doubt remember his quirky in-class banter and his frequent, all-invited trips to Empire Szechuan. At the time of his death, he was still fighting for the establishment of a teaching chair in the otherwise research-oriented department; could his quest have been more CULPA-esque? His death is a great loss for Columbia's students. Andrew, you are missed, but your presence is still felt.
